The Caretaker for the Minnesota Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League is more than the person who opens the building, fixes the toliet, paints the walls sets up for meetings, and bakes us all cheesecake. Joseph is deeply involved in the mission and programs of the Chapter. Here is how:
CARETAKER
As the caretaker for the MN Valley Chapter’s house and land, Joseph is committed to creating a welcoming place for all visitors and members. He is charged with increasing the sustainabillty of the special place we all steward.
GREEN CREW, ADVISOR
Launched by the chapter in January of 2022, the Green Crew is setting the bar for youth-led science-based conservation service. Everyone of all ages is invited to get involved in a variety of science-based conservation projects. Learn more about the Green Crew here.
VENTURE CREW 3111, ADVISOR
The youth leadership team of the Green Crew is also BSA Venture Crew 3111. The Green Crew leadership team blends the leadership development program of the BSA with a solid foundation in conservation and ecological action from the IWLA. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (VOL) OF YOUTH PROGRAMMING
Since October of 2021 Joseph as servesd as an officer of the Minnesota Valley Chapter of the Izaak Walton League as the volunteer Executive Director of Youth Programming. This includes the Green Crew as well as our summer camp, and school enrichment programs.
KOUBA GALLERY, CURATOR
The Kouba Gallery features a monthly show of established and emerging artists exploring nature art in the context of an ecological crisis. An Open House is held on the second Sunday of every month from 1-4 pm. Learn more about the Kouba Gallery here.
IWLA - MN DIVISION, VICE PRESIDENT
In January 2023 Joseph was elected to an officer position in the Minnesota Division of the Izaak Walton Board of Directors. He serves the membership as the 1st Vice President. In this role, Joseph is focused on building the capacity of the State Division to support local chapters. Learn more about the IWLA – MN Division.
FRIENDS OF MN VALLEY - BOARD MEMBER
Joseph serves as a Board Member of Friends of the MN Valley. Friends of the MN Valley advocate for the preservation of the rivers, wildlife, and lands in the MN River Valley. One of their initiatives is the River Watch program. Learn More about Friends of the MN Valley
